Hot to build your Boeing 747 expertise

One of the easiest ways to build your flying expertise is to challenge yourself using the Aerowinx software. For example how do you handle the airframe in a "tight and difficult" situation. Simple;
1. Load Departure 01 Sydney-Los Angeles in this case, or whatever is your "home" airport

2. Go to weather add in Precipitation Moderate to High, add in Turbulence (Moderate) and set a takeoff temperature less than 10 degrees C creating the risk of icing to a higher level, and finally throw in a South Westerly crosswind of 18 knots and CRASH on your first attempt.

3. Thankfully with Aerowinx go back to check your profile and attempt it again successfully. In the original PS1.3 there were a lot more 'basic' scenarios created like this one which seem to have been dropped in the newer updates software. Any comments Hardy Heinlin?

I also picked the Sydney-Los Angeles scenario due to there being a full air traffic control  audio available adding to the cockpit pressure as well as realistic changing of various frequencies while flying above & over well known way points that can be checked later.

Three random situations that Aerowinx creates with this scenario is to:
1. Turn off AUTOSTART  IN YELLOW during Take off & Climbing indicating Fuel starvation

2. Check that the ANTI-ICE is ON, to overcome this and due to potential icing

3. Turn on CONT IGN (Continuous Ignition) until above dense cloud;also don`t forget to turn it OFF when you do.

Another happy hunting ground is to use different Model cockpits while doing the exercise. I`ll talk about that in another post.

From a slightly cloudy Sydney, may all of your take-offs be joyfully successful.

Till next time,

Neil
