Wild weather training 01 Departure 001 Sydney-Los Angeles.situ

The wonder of Aerowinx software is the capacity to practice aeronautical operations in  a 'risk -free" environment.

This post I want to share various factors of the
01 Departure 001 Sydney-Los Angeles.situ file in a very realistic manner & weather On one of the flights I chose Heavy Precipitation in preparation for the "Wild Weather" simulator booking I want to attempt next..

The Voices

The ATC voices for this flight are:
Philbert on Sydney  (YSSY) Ground 121.70
Charles on Sydney (YSSY) Tower 120.50 &
Peter on Sydney (YSSY) Departures on 123.00

Don`t forget to use H off your PC keyboard or the speak switch on the 747 Yoke to respond to the ATC (Air Traffic Control) instructions.quickly otherwise the instruction will be repeated to your embarrassment.

Expect vectors just after takeoff requiring firm & prompt interaction with the Heading Select switch on the MCP (Mode Control panel) & the FLCH (Flight Change) switch). T he earliest you will again get to use the LNAV  (Lateral Navigation) & VNAV (Vertical Navigation) switches is Flight level FL150 or (15000 feet).

In between you will experience various Traffic conflicts with "Climb, Climb Now" meaning you need to take the air-frame off the AutoPIlot or quickly change your hand flying, with little time to relax until about 19,000 feet or FL190.

Eventually you will rech Top of Climb (TOC) & commence the navigation of the flight; I read some where that the First officer is doing a Fix update every 50 nauatical miles which pass quite rapidly.

Finally for this was a training flight I set up a diversion for a crisis situation (ill passenger, volcano ash et al) & chose Nandi (NFFN) in Fiji which only has a variety of VOR (VHF Omni range) NDB (Non-directional) approaches which you can see below on this link https://static.crosstheditch.net/events/crosstheditch/autumn2013/nffn.pdfc

Finally here is a view of the aircraft overflying NFFN similar to a licence test at the private level.

3 things to learn from 01-Departure Sydney-Los Angeles 01 situation

1. This is the most realistic "prepared' situation that you can use straight off the software
2. The flight requires constant attention & thought stopping the "put it on autopilot" syndrome amongst Aerowinx users
3. The power of the software in training Knowledge Skills & Attributes sets it apart from other simulation systems.

Till next time, from a wintry Sydney

Neil
