The benefit of Aerowinx is you can focus on a flight phase at minimal cost, but maximize effectiveness.
I decided because I hadn`t flown for sometime to focus on the Takeoff phase, loading situation files 01 Departure 001.situ to 01 Departure 006.situ.
The most challenging was 01 Departure 002 - Tel Aviv - Hong Kong.situ from the Situations folder for a number of reasons. At first it seems like an early morning take off, however be aware of the following:
1. Check the CDU (Control Display Unit) the Outside Temperature is 5 degrees C, within icing range which almost leaves you running out of runway, turn on Nacelle & Wing Anti-ice. What will happen is you will get a Yellow caution on the EICAS (An engine-indicating and crew-alerting system) remedial alert, however I ignored it due to the conditions.
2. On climb you need to be at 250 knots @ 2,000 -3,00 feet AMSL (Above Mean sea Level) , so watch your trimming, and speed range, remember you`re climbing in thin air, however it can be done; took me 3 attempts.
4. As you can see fromm the Screen shot I was struggling to match my speed and climb requirements.
3. I had a CONFIG GEAR indication which at first was a false indication, however on the 3rd attempt had to apply GEAR OVRD on the FO (First Officers) side, all of which impact on your available Climbing Speed.
4. Remember to check that the Packs (Air Conditioning) is turned on before 20,000 feet? or you may not be able to turn them on at all.Check the manual for type.
Another benefit of Aerowinx is I loaded different airlines` cockpit configurations to get used to the different settings again. My personal favorites are the Qantas & El Al Cargo Models.
I was reminded by FB it`s one year today since I started posting weekly & I hope to do that again soon.
From a 'chilling" Sydney,
Till next time,
Neil
PS If it had been a real flight check i have an intuitive feeling I would have failed.
