HOT AND ALMOST TOO HIGH IN SINGAPORE
I mentioned Singapore (WSSS) in my last entry last time so I thought I`d attempt File .023 Singapore-on a hot day from the Aerowinx Files for this post.
Looking at the image you can see the view out of the cockpit is "black all around" as it is set at dusk & doesn`t come back to "normal" light until 100 feet AGL (Above Ground Level) again showing the clarity & "real-life" scenarios that the Aerowinx Training system throws at you.
The impact of the above scenario is:
1. The need for careful speed management, on one attempt Aerowinx changed the Airspeed function on the MCP (Mode Control Panel) to 160 knots, instead of 144 testing the pilots scan & mental agility.
2. Because of the speeds required it is tempting to use the Speed Brake to slow down, just remember most SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) require a stable approach by 1,000 feet, so leave it alone!
3. The Localiser (or beam your tracking ) is 80 feet out due to the conditions and doesn`t work properly till 1.5 miles from touchdown as you hit the Inner Marker. By then you`re raising the nose & controlling the throttles very carefully.
If any of you have flown this scenario or similar at a Jet Flight Simulation operator let me know how you found it, and what you observed?
From a cloudy Sydney, till next time,
Neil
PS I am just posting when I can due to work demands.
